The GoyaRepublic Philosophy:

Te-ge:

Pronounced “Tay-Gay,” in the local dialect it roughly translates to mean "life in the slow lane" or "don't sweat the small stuff." At GoyaRepublic, we believe that life was meant to be enjoyed. Unfortunately, these days, people take themselves and things in general far too seriously. In the positive sense, Te-ge means taking a step back and learning how to laugh, first at yourself and then at your circumstances. We believe that life’s little tragedies will soon turn into comedies if you’ll let them. If they don’t, you need to change your latitude and lighten up. Life is too short.

Cha-gan-ju:

It means the same thing as “Genki.” Of course if you’re not Japanese, you still don’t know what we mean. Most times the word is simply translated as “being well.” Too often this only takes on the meaning of physical well being. But in looking at the last syllable of the Japanese word “genki,” we learn that “ki” is best translated as spirit. People who are “genki" or cha-gan-ju are up beat mentally as well as feeling well in a physical sense. They have a sunny outlook. Instead of seeing dire circumstances they see opportunities. They know there is sunshine on the other side of that dark cloud and their personality reflects this.

Chi-bari-yo:

This means always doing your best because Life isn’t fair so get over it! Some are born into wealth and others into abject poverty. Some have great physical strength and some are smarter than others. Those that are lacking in one area or another have to work harder to achieve the same results or get even half as far. Those that have life's advantages and don't use them are more than likely heading for a fall and many do. The point is to be moving onward and upward instead of resting on your laurels or wallowing in self pity. Chi-bari-yo means looking to the long term and playing the game of life to win.

The effects of synergy:There’s never just one piece to a puzzle. If that were the case, life would be pretty dull. We think there are the three main factors or ingredients to having a "Positive Mental Latitude." These three pieces don’t just fit together to make a picture, they work together in synergy and produce a final outcome far greater than the sum.

People who are Te-ge are the kind of people who usually don’t worry or take anything too seriously. In extreme cases, these people have given up on life and as a result could either care less or look at themselves as victims. This is why we believe that there must be other force(s) to balance it. For example, when Te-ge is combined with cha-gan-ju, something magic happens. It is here that thinking outside the box begins, opportunities are visualized and dreams become possibilities.

People who are Cha-gan-ju are really fun to be around but if they don’t possess the Chi-bari-yo factor of life, they’ll tend to give up too easy. When these two factors are combined, possibilities become realities. But these dreams can also lead to failure(s). At Goya Republic, we don't judge people's failures as long as they learn from them. Even people who are both Cha-gan-ju and chi-bari-yo can get frustrated after multiple failures. This is why they must also possess the te-ge factor. Together they form a strong yet flexible triad upon which dreams will eventually become realities.

Pain makes man think, thinking makes man wise, wisdom makes life enjoyable.” Marlon Brando’s character Sekine-San from the movie, “Tea House of the August Moon.”
